Other consequences of knowing

Remember also, had this been the scenario, Dallas might have gone in a different direction in the draft. They would still have had the option of selecting Alabama cornerback Trevon Diggs, who is projected to be very good, in the second round.

They could have stuck with that, and had Diggs and Jones in the defensive backfield. Or they might have drafted another receiver or defensive player instead.

Just for the sake of this exercise, I’m going to say they still would have taken Diggs. Projected as a first-rounder, he was a great value where they took him. How would you feel about our defense with both Jones and Diggs as the Cowboys’ starting corners? Sounds pretty good, doesn’t it?

In that case, head coach Mike McCarthy’s idea of potentially moving cornerback Chidobe Awuzie to safety might have been more practical. But whatever they did, Dallas would potentially have had a tremendous cornerback corps.

So, would you rather have the best receiver group in the league, or a very good receiver group, and a very good pair of cornerbacks? You see what I mean? You might still make the same decision. But it’s still a very intriguing idea nonetheless.
