3. Jourdan Lewis: Boy meets world

With the addition of Trevon Diggs, the cornerback room overall is an interesting roller coaster to ride. Boy, I’d love to be a fly on the wall during those meetings.

Look, I’m not buying any cornerback depth charts right now. It’s just too darn soon. Anything goes right now.

Chidobe Awuzie returns as a favorite, but I still feel cornerback Jourdan Lewis hasn’t been given a fair shake because of the previous coaching staff and the schemes that followed.

Like the rest of the Dallas Cowboys roster, Lewis has a chance to reboot the computer. He’s demonstrated his talents in limited snaps, and with Byron Jones enjoying a nice new contract in Miami, there’s an opportunity for someone to fill in the number one spot.

Lewis turns 25 at the end of this month. He was a third-round pick for the Dallas Cowboys in the 2017 NFL Draft. Overall in his career, he owns 117 tackles, four sacks, and four interceptions, which is two more than Byron Jones.

For Lewis and the Dallas Cowboys, the situation may turn out to be a “now or never” scenario. Lewis is set to become an unrestricted free agent in 2021. He is earning a base salary of $2,133,00 million this year with a cap hit of $2.3 million.
