Which Dallas Cowboys rookie will see the most snaps early on?
By Brandon Ladd
Neville Gallimore, defensive lineman, third-round selection
Neville Gallimore was first-team all-Big 12 in his senior season at Oklahoma last year, a guy who still isn’t being discussed as an instant impact for the Cowboys though.
With a high level of uncertainty, it would not be far-fetched to imagine that Gallimore will get pass-rushing snaps at the defensive tackle position in place of defensive tackle Dontari Poe.
Gallimore had 4.0 sacks his senior year in a conference which is not kind to players over 300-pounds, leading to the thought process that the future is brighter for Gallimore in the NFL than in college.
Gallimore just like Diggs is going to take advantage of a hole on the Cowboys roster if he gets a number of snaps early on in the season. The team could use a pass rush from anyone at this point. Gallimore told ESPN this about himself after the draft.
"“A high-effort guy. A guy with the jack-of-all trades. A guy that’s also disruptive and can rush the passer or a guy that can stop the run,”"
The Cowboys would love for a defensive lineman pick to work out for the first time in seemingly years. Gallimore at 15 snaps per game with any pass rush, being a high motor guy could really help the Cowboys need for a second pass rusher to help defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence.
The team will arguably need instant performance from these draft picks and from their other picks as well. Change is exciting though and unpredictable, 2020 could be a youth resurgence for the team, just like 2016.
