The loser of the Jamal Adams sweepstakes …

The obvious answer is that it is way too early to call upon a loser. But, let’s be real here: The Seattle Seahawks mortgaged a future to land Adams. A first-round tender is already a significant price to pay, but to owe two on the spot! Wow.

In my trade scenario number three, I posited the possibility of the Cowboys surrendering a first, second, and fourth-round tenders! The Hawks jumped well over that price.

And, let’s not forget something very vital here: Whoever landed Jamal Adams must consider the contract to keep him in town. The Seahawks gave up a boatload for the safety, but now the next round of negotiations involves making him the highest-paid safety. The contract will most likely see him granted the honors of the highest-paid safety ever.

Currently, Adams is under his rookie contract. For 2020, he carries a salary-cap hit of $3.6 million and 2021, the number jumps to $9.8 million.

Queen and David Bowie sang the tune, “Under Pressure” …

Whether Jamal Adams likes it or not, an insurmountable amount of pressure is on his shoulders. And no, he did not land in Big D, his first choice place to get traded to.

The sixth overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft jets over to Seattle with big shoes to fill. For any young player, it would be unfair to follow Earl Thomas’ footsteps. Whether Adams likes it or not, he is expected to outgrow the shadows of the previous safety and assist his team in the next big dance.

Adams demanded a trade. He was disgruntled. He got what he wanted.

Now, the Seahawks and the rest of the 12th man team, are looking for the big payoff. How does it all pan out? Well, decide for yourself.
