5 Cowboys who will miss cancelled preseason games the most
DT, Trysten Hill
The Dallas Cowboys traded away their 2019 first-round pick for wide receiver Amari Cooper, which meant that their second-round pick was their top pick of the draft. With that pick, they selected defensive tackle Trysten Hill.
For good reason, not many people know his name. After all, he only played 121 snaps for Dallas last season, which comes out to only 11 percent of the total defensive snaps.
The 2019 season was a very tough one for the then 21-year-old. Luckily for him, he has his youth on his side. With Antwaun Woods, Maliek Collins, and eventually Michael Bennet ahead of him on the depth chart last season, Hill rarely got a chance to prove himself.
Heading into 2020, Woods remains on the team, along with the signings of defensive tackles Gerald McCoy and Dontari Poe. The Cowboys also drafted Neville Gallimore in the third round of the 2020 draft.
There is a ton of competition, but Hill remains the youngest defensive tackle on the team. The preseason would be a great time for the sophomore to showcase his development, and hope that he will be looked at as a rotational piece, and at the very least crack the 53-man roster.
Without a doubt, Hill has a very steep hill to climb if he is to become a starter. That’s not to say he can’t do it though. Making his mark during the regular season will be a more difficult task without the preseason.
At least during the preseason, he knows that he will be given some snaps, whereas during the regular season he needs to wipe the dust off his helmet. You can say Woods is happy that his position is safer without the preseason.
Cowboys fans are eager to see if their second-rounder will develop into, at the very least, a rotational player. Especially with the number of players still available at the 58th spot. Some of them being receivers D.K. Metcalf and Terry McLaurin, and also safety Juan Thornhill.
