Special Teams and final thoughts …

Special Teams (3)

Greg Zuerlein – kicker
Chris Jones – punter
L.P. Ladouceur – long snapper

I was pretty surprised that McCarthy didn’t sign an UDFA punter to battle Chris Jones for the starting position, as he has underperformed the last few years. It’s possible that they’ll bring someone else in somewhere along the line, but as of now, Jones looks safe.

There could also be a battle between Zuerlein and Kai Forbath, who started for Dallas the last few games of last season and missed exactly zero field goals. Again, it’s possible. But Zuerlein is the odds-on favorite. He’s got a great track record.

Final Thoughts

Remember, these predictions are before training camp even begins. It’s only May after all. As of now, there are tons of unknowns, and many factors can change. I mentioned trades, but there’s always an injury or two in training camp.

Someone is bound to go on the injured reserve. And the team might still sign another player or two. If for some reason Gregory doesn’t make it, expect Dallas to sign or trade for another defensive end. But as a rule, expect things to change. Because they will.
