Dallas Cowboys: Why drafting CeeDee Lamb was a no-brainer

Three-Headed Monster

Last season, the Dallas Cowboys had one of the best offenses in the league. This is the result of having a top-notch offensive line, a very good quarterback, a beast of a running back, and amazing receivers.

Already there were wideouts Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup, with Blake Jarwin playing at tight end. The first two are names that are already known, with the third looking to take a nice step up this season.

Adding CeeDee Lamb means the Cowboys now have the red zone threat that they have been looking for. Gallup is great at stretching the defense, Cooper is great at the line of scrimmage and making a play after the catch, now Lamb can make the big catches.

What he “lacks” in speed can be made up for with the space given to him by his great teammates. This is something that every player will benefit from.

One thing new head coach Mike McCarthy loves is versatility and having options. That is exactly what he has with the receiving corps in Dallas. All three wideouts can line up in the slot or on the outside.

Quarterback Dak Prescott has a receiver for everything. He has to have a big smile on his face knowing every starting spot on his offense is filled with good to great players.

This should help convince Dak to sign because no other team has such a set offense as long as the Cowboys do. Every starting piece is signed for at least this upcoming season and the one after.

For the third season, Gallup will need a new contract. If the Cowboys want to save money, they can let Gallup walk while giving Lamb a bigger role. Again, options and flexibility are what Dallas has just added.

The only bad thing about this pick is that it does not address the defensive needs. That is ok because the Cowboys selected cornerback Trevon Diggs in the second round and defensive lineman Neville Gallimore in the third round.

Dallas got their defensive prospects (although they could still use some more). The first-round pick was a must grab of a top-notch prospect that they never would have thought they would have the opportunity to draft. That and they also robbed the Eagles.
