TRADE DOWN FOR ADDED VALUE

Just as jumping up a few spots for an elite player makes real sense, the same applies to trading back to add another draft pick. It’s no secret Dallas is in the market for corners and receivers, and this draft has plenty who could contribute early.

Ideally the trade would involve securing an extra second round pick. Dallas could then pair their two second rounders and move up to the top of that round. A jump such as this could land a high quality starter in both the later first and early second round.

Two examples of early second round successes are Jaylon Smith and DeMarcus Lawrence. Both were selected at Pick 34, and both are star players on the Cowboys defense. Below is a list of trade down options likely available in the later first round.

GRANT DELPIT (S) – LSU

Delpit is a versatile, physical safety that can play both spots at a high level.

TREVON DIGGS (CB) – ALABAMA

Diggs adds a big, physical corner to a relatively undersized secondary.

YETUR GROSS-MATUS (DE) – PENN STATE

Gross-Matus is a well-rounded, talented fit to solidify right defensive end.

BRANDON AIYUK (WR) – ARIZONA STATE

Aiyuk delivers fireworks inside or out and is an electric punt and kick returner.

CESAR RUIZ (C) – MICHIGAN

Ruiz would be a great solution to replace Travis Frederick for years to come.
