Should the Dallas Cowboys make a move for Jadeveon Clowney?
Fit in the Big D
Someones fit on a team is key to their success. It is what can make a great player drop and also a decent player rise. How would Clowney fit with the Cowboys?
Dallas has an open spot on their roster for a defensive lineman. It can be either on the interior or on the end. This is because of the flexibility of defensive lineman Tyrone Crawford.
If Clowney is signed, then Crawford can slide to the middle. This means the line would look like Clowney-Crawford-defensive tackle Gerald McCoy then defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence.
This sounds like a great starting lineup. A possible return of defensive end Randy Gregory would add some depth to the lineup as well. There is only one problem.
Its been a busy offseason for the Dallas Cowboys. They re-signed wide receiver Amari Cooper, franchise-tagged quarterback Dak Prescott, and picked up free agents Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and McCoy.
They have also watched as two key players signed with new teams. That being cornerback Byron Jones and defensive end Robert Quinn. There isn’t that much cap space remaining, especially with the Dak contract situation not being settled yet.
There isn’t all that much cap space left. As shown in the tweet above, Crawford could be cut to free up money which would then could be used to sign Clowney.
It is something owner Jerry Jones would need to look at if he wants to sign someone as coveted as Jadeveon. It appears that is the only way Dallas can sign him.
