With the 180th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys select …

Logan Wilson, Linebacker – Wyoming

Career Stats: 409 total tackles, 34.5 tackles for loss, 7 sacks, 5 forced fumbles and 10 interceptions

Last season, the Dallas Cowboys linebacking group took a hit with the injury too Leighton Vander Esch. Once he left the field the defense just wasn’t the same when it came to stopping the run and linebackers defending the pass. Veteran Sean Lee played well in his absence but you could see the drop off in production at the position, and he will not be back next season to help. The Cowboys can’t let this happen again and must look to add depth to this position in the draft.

That is why I feel like Wilson would be a great pick with the compensatory pick in the fifth round. The Cowboys have had a bit of luck when drafting players with a compensatory pick in the draft.

Wilson could keep the streak alive, his is a tackling machine that can help this team stop the run, but he also has the ability to cover tight ends and running backs in the passing game as well. He has the ability to play the SAM linebacker position which would give the Cowboys the ability to have Vander Esch, Jaylon Smith and Wilson on the field at the same time to match speed with most teams.

He will need to work on his technique, so he can shed blockers ad get to the ball carrier faster but his addition would be a nice addition to a talented linebacker group.
