3. Cole Kmet, tight end

Hey, don’t throw your tomatoes at me! Look, the Cowboys drafted names like David LaFleur and Martellus Bennett before, which costed a first-round and second-round pick, respectively.

The owner and general manager, Jerry Jones, is obsessed with the tight end spot. Jason Witten is aging and his return isn’t clear. Dak Prescott needs weapons at that spot for 2020 and more importantly, the foreseeable future.

That’s why I’m putting Cole Kmet down on paper. I don’t like it. I’m just prepared for it. I’ve seen Dallas do crazier things on draft nights. Also, Mike McCarthy is offensively oriented, so that may play a factor.

Kmet played at Notre Dame from 2017 to 2019. He is six-foot-five and over 250 pounds. For his college career, he caught 60 balls, six touchdowns, and accumulated nearly 700 receiving yards.

Cole Kmet was also a baseball player at Notre Dame. His athletic ability will draw NFL eyeballs in. He’ll get a chance to showcase his skills at the scouting combine, which begins this Sunday on February 23.
