The New England Patriots  Defending the read-option

For the Cowboys to beat the one-loss Patriots they will need to take a page out of the Baltimore Ravens playbook. The Ravens were able to be the Patriots thanks in part to quarterback Lamar Jackson‘s ability to run the ball with designed read-option plays.

The threat of his ability to run opened up the field for play-action passes and designed runs for Mark Ingram. The Cowboys can do the same with Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott.

The Buffalo Bills – Make Josh Allen win with his arm

The key to a win against the Bills would be to make quarterback Josh Allen beat you with his arm. The Bills have two very good running backs in Frank Gore and Devin Singletary, and they use them to take time off the clock and beat you with long drives.

The Cowboys have to stop these two backs and force a very hot and cold quarterback in Allen to beat them.

The Chicago Bears – Tire out the Bears defense and stay away from Mack

The Bears defense has been great this season and is the reason they have been winning their games. The Cowboys will need to put together long drives while using a hurry-up offense to wear down this defense and avoid Khalil Mack in the running game.

If the Cowboys can keep the Bears defense gassed they can overwhelm them later in the game and pick up a win.
