Step Up: Byron Jones, CB

Cornerback Byron Jones has been the star that the Cowboys have needed him to be. He has shown that he is able to cover any type of pass catcher.

More from The Landry Hat

He is fast enough to keep up with the speedsters, but also strong and explosive enough to keep up with the physical ones.

Yet again, Jones is taking a step forward in his play. So far this season he has only allowed 50 percent of completions his way. In addition to that, there was only one touchdown thrown his way.

He has 22 tackles on the season and only one missed tackle. Jones has been playing great. He is continuing to show the Cowboys organization why they should give him a generous extension.

Although he has not yet intercepted a pass this year, he has forced a fumble, which in my eyes is harder to do. Jones was also able to knock down four passes. Quarterbacks recognize how good Jones is and are trying to avoid throwing in his direction.

In comparison to last season, he is holding quarterbacks to a lower completion percentage, passer rating and yards per pass attempt. If Jones keeps up this level of play, it is possible that he can make his second Pro Bowl.
