Cowboys Snore, Packers Soar: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly of Week Five
By Richard Ball
The Ugly
In a game that can easily be classified as ugly from start to finish for the Cowboys, the ugly play of the game goes to a botch shotgun snap that hit the motion man. Fortunately for Dallas, there was a false start penalty that killed the play before the snap.
With 14:05 left in the fourth quarter, wide receiver Randall Cobb went in motion from left to right from the Packers five-yard line. The entire left-hand side of the Cowboys offensive line moved before center Travis Frederick snapped the ball.
The ball was intended to be snapped before Cobb passed in front of Prescott but because Frederick was late, it hit Cobb who did his best contortionist moves to avoid the ball. He was unsuccessful with the ball bouncing once before ending up in Za’Darius Smith’s waiting arms.
It marked the second consecutive play where a Cowboys’ turnover was overturned due to a penalty. For Dallas, they need to move on from this debacle and get ready for their trip to New Jersey to play the New York Jets.
