While the season is early, the Cowboys undoubtedly have one of the best offenses in the NFL. My very first article on The Landry Hat was titled, “Why Kellen Moore won’t last long as offensive coordinator”, foreshadowed what we are seeing now. I truly believe we are witnessing the beginning of his rise as a head coaching candidate in the next couple of years.

All the Cowboys weapons were at full display last week to include an explosive 51-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Devin Smith who received increased playing time due to Tavon Austin‘s absence. Once again, quarterback Dak Prescott spread the ball around to eight different receivers which keeps the defense from keying on specific players.

This is a week where there is a genuine talent gap and the Cowboys hold the edge in every offensive to defensive match up. The offensive line is really playing well and can take another step towards regaining their ranking as the best unit in football. The skill positions are largely intact with the sole concern being wide receiver Michael Gallup being out for 2-4 weeks after knee surgery.

The Dolphins defense is the worst in the league at yards allowed passing, rushing, and points given up per game. Combine that with the Dolphins trading defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick, one of their best young players, to the Pittsburgh Steelers, and this is a recipe for the Cowboys to play a complete game.

What remains to be seen is if the Dolphins team is truly still motivated to win or are they going through motions? If players believe the organization is looking to “tank” games, you will see guys looking to preserve themselves and not sacrifice for the team. I see another 500 yard performance for the offense with very few answers from the Dolphins defense.

Prediction: Cowboys score at least 38 points on the Dolphins defense
