Offensive Line

Grade: B+

I’m not sure how or why this unit has received any blame for the offensive woes.

Sure there are a few things “could” be better. I’d love for guard Connor Williams to wake up and be 10% stronger and better equipped to handle bull rushes. I’d be ecstatic if center Travis Frederick would wake up tomorrow and be 100% cured of his autoimmune disorder.

Beyond that, I’m missing why this unit is being regarded as if they are problematic in any way.

You want to blame the line because Prescott has been sacked 14 times in four games? Try blaming Prescott as he holds the ball for 2.97 seconds from snap to throw. That’s the fourth longest amount of time of any quarterback in the NFL.

This also seems like a good time to remind you that the Cowboys in second in the NFL in rushing yards.

Maybe they aren’t the best line in football right now, but they aren’t too far off either.

Defensive Line

Grade: A

The Dallas Cowboys defensive line is playing dominant football and they are about to get even better.

Dallas allows just 3.6 yards per carry, good enough for sixth best in the NFL. They are also third overall in sacks with 14. Nine different players have registered a sack thus far.

Of course, the leader of the group is DeMarcus Lawrence. He has picked up right where he left off, currently leading the league with 5.5 sacks.

Randy Gregory has been a presence. Taco Charlton has improved and David Irving is on deck, ready to go. This unit has been extremely vital to whatever success the Dallas Cowboys have had in September.
