Could this Dallas Cowboys defense be the best of the century
So far this century the Cowboys haven’t had many stellar defenses.

According to Pro Football Reference in 2003, the Cowboys defense finished 1st in yards allowed and 2nd in points allowed. Statistically, they are the best defense the Cowboys have produced this century. Could this current iteration produce similar results?
This Dallas Cowboys linebacker core looks better than any I can remember. Joe Thomas looked excellent in the first preseason game, Jaylon Smith is about to take the league by storm, Leighton Vander Esch is a talented rookie and Sean Lee when healthy is arguably the greatest off-ball linebacker in Cowboys history.
The defensive line will be a rotational platoon of talented pass rushers and players with motors who will leave everything on the field.
The secondary is young, but is extremely talented and is coached by one of the best secondary coaches in the NFL–Kris Richard.
And what if they add Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas for Terrance Williams and a 2019 third round pick? Doug Baldwin is injured and the Seahawks could use some help at wide receiver.
Regardless if they add Thomas or not, I have very high expectations for this Cowboys defense and that is the first time I can say that in a decade. Health permitting this unit has a chance to be one of the league’s best.
