Rico Gathers could be a red zone weapon

Scoring touchdowns are really important in football. Cowboys tight end Rico Gathers has showcased his ability to do that in prior preseason games in previous years and continually in training camps.

Gathers is a massive target and with his size, he will be able to win jump balls and down the seam. Run pass options with Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, running back Ezekiel Elliott and Rico down the seam will be challenging to stop for opposing defenses in the red zone.

Gathers blocked better than I expected in San Fransico. On Cowboys running back Bo Scarbrough’s touchdown run–CLICK the link for video–Rico collapsed the defender opposite of him down the line and opened the hole for Scarbrough.

And lastly, check out this catch he had at practice August 12. Brought to you by Dallas Morning News Jon Machota.
