Dallas Cowboys best case scenarios: Wide receivers edition
In the team’s best case scenario, Terrance Williams is not on the roster opening day.
I do appreciate his steadiness, but I also do think he is solely insurance at this point.
If all the other previously mentioned receivers play to their potentials, Williams will quite literally have no role to play. And would serve no purpose as a sixth receiver, as those spots are better to be used on young and developing players.
Hurns is a better Williams in my eyes, and Terrence has already proven he is not a number one in Dez’s absences. T-Will is not a slot, and not quite fast enough to be the deep guy.
The front office loves Williams and he’ll get a fair chance; but if he doesn’t beat out Gallup and Hurns, Williams is the odd man out.
With the foot injury, arrest, and worst season of his career filled with drops resulting in picks and zero touchdown stat lines; Williams will have to be a clear winner in training camp and preseason to be a contributor in 2018.

If these things come true in 2018, the Dallas Cowboys will have proven the world wrong and shown that they can operate and function as an efficient offense without a dominant outside receiver. The future of the position group and offense as a whole will be bright.
But if you’re a safe fan, expect the play to be somewhere in between this and 2017.
