With the NFL Draft now just a day away, we wrap up our Dallas Cowboys draft profile series taking a looking at DaeSean Hamilton from Penn State.

Wide receiver is a clear need in this draft for the Dallas Cowboys, and today we look at another thirst visit player, DaeSean Hamilton.

Hamilton is a 6’1, 204 lb wide receiver from Penn State. He played four season at Penn State, and posted very solid production. His senior year in 2017 was his most productive, and he posted a stat line of, 53 catches, for 857 yards, and nine touchdowns.

The prospect’s nine touchdown catches was good for third among all Big Ten receivers, and in his freshman season in 2014, he actually led the Big Ten Conference with 82 receptions.

At the NFL Scouting Combine, Hamilton participated in four events, and posted fairly solid numbers. He recorded a 34.5 inch vertical jump, a 118 inch broad jump, a 6.84 three cone drill, and a 4.15 20 yard shuttle time.

Hamilton decided to not run the 40 yard dash at the combine, but to hold off and run at Penn State’s Pro Day. He ran in 4.52 seconds, which was a very impressive number for him.

For Hamilton, his biggest strength might be the biggest weakness of the current Dallas Cowboys wide receiving corps, route running. The Penn State receiver is considered one of, if not the best, route runner in the 2018 draft class.

At Penn State, he played mostly out of the slot, and at 6’1 he is a huge slot target. Hamilton also has been regarded as being a great person on and off the field, shown by him earning the role of team captain at Penn State.

For the Dallas Cowboys, DaeSean Hamilton will probably been seen as a plan B option. If the Cowboys decide to forgo on a wide receiver in the first two rounds, or maybe trade up and lose one of their picks, then Hamilton may come into play.

Although he is not looked at as a first or second round pick, the Cowboys clearly do have interest in him, as the brought him in as one of their 30 visits.

DaeSean Hamilton would be a solid addition to this team, but would not be a instant impact guy. If the Dallas Cowboys really have faith in the wide receivers on their team, and decide to pick a linebacker, guard, or safety in the first two rounds, look for Hamilton as a potential target in the middle rounds.
