Inside Linebacker

Rashaan Evans – Alabama

It was between Evans and Boise State’s Leighton Vander Esch for me as the third best LB prospect. I’m giving the slight edge to Evans.

With Georgia’s Roquan Smith and Virginia Tech’s Tremaine Edmunds sure to be off the board, Evans is next up.

Evans’ pedigree is impressive as he was a participant in three National Championship games with Alabama. He’s a three down backer, versatile enough to rush the passer or play in coverage on passing downs.

Evans’ size, speed and sure tackling put him all over the field against the rush with an ability to finish the play.

In four seasons at Alabama, two of which as a starter, Evans amassed 150 tackles, with 23.5 for loss and 15 sacks.  He added five pass defenses and two fumble recoveries to his impressive stat sheet.

His biggest issue seems to be a concern regarding the ability to stay healthy.  While that is already is a concern, with Sean Lee and Jaylon Smith on the roster, Evans did play 25 games as a junior and senior while battling nagging injuries.
