As draft day gets closer and closer, let’s take a look at the best player available at the biggest positions of need for the Dallas Cowboys.
Welcome to the middle of April, where the Dallas Cowboys draft strategy is the topic du jour. Over the next couple of weeks, leading all the way up to draft weekend, I am focusing on all things NFL Draft.
Today, we’ll be taking a look at who the best player available at a few positions could be when the Cowboys have their first selection.
Before we do so, however, we must first assess the Dallas Cowboys biggest areas of need.
After another under the radar year of free agency acquisitions, the Cowboys have done a solid job creating competition at multiple positions. While additional talent is always welcome, there is a good level of depth at key positions.
Assessing the positions that could use an upgrade in talent, there seems to be four that are most pressing. Inside linebacker, tight end, safety, guard and defensive tackle are at the top of the list.
The Cowboys could also use a backup running back and more competition at cornerback. Those needs, however are not worthy of a first round selection.
