With just 18 days till the 2018 NFL Draft, we continue our Dallas Cowboys draft profile series, looking at Rashaan Evans.

Today on our draft profile series, we take a look at Alabama linebacker, Rashaan Evans.

Evans is a 21-year old, 6’3 234 lb. linebacker, who played four seasons at Alabama.

In 2017, his senior season, he had his best year by far. Evans recorded 74 total tackles, 35 of them solo, 13.0 tackles for loss, and 6.0 sacks. The linebacker was number eight in the SEC in tackles for loss in his senior year.

His numbers took a huge leap from his junior to senior year, recording 22 more tackles, and 8.5 more tackles for loss.

This burst in production made Evans jump onto the scene as a potential first round draft pick at linebacker.

Evans posted fairly average numbers at the NFL Scouting Combine, only participating in four drills. He produced a 30 inch vertical, a 116 inch broad jump, a 6.95 three cone drill, and a 4.36 twenty yard shuttle, all fairly mediocre numbers.

The Dallas Cowboys have clearly shown interest in the Alabama product, bringing him in as one of their 30 pre draft visits, per Albert Breer from the Monday Morning Quarterback.

For the Cowboys, Evans would most likely come in and play the SAM linebacker position, and could be a instant plug and play starter.

Evans has very impressive speed for a linebacker, and he uses this to make plays from sideline to sideline. He also has very good size, and has a body that should be able to hold up at the next level.

He has good pass rush ability for a linebacker, shown by his six sacks in his senior season, and is very skilled at making plays in the gaps in the run game.

Linebacker seems like one of the most logical position choices for Dallas to upgrade in round one, and it may come down to the Cowboys deciding between Leighton Vander Esch, the linebacker from Boise State, or Evans.

If they do select Evans, he would give Dallas an instant plug and play starter, and along with Jaylon Smith, give the Cowboys two young learning linebackers to pair with the veteran Sean Lee.

The way this draft looks like it may turn out, the Cowboys options at 19 may be a very small pool of names, and it seems that they have lots of interest at Evans.

Don’t be surprised if  on April 26, you hear the Dallas Cowboys calling Rashaan Evans name.
