Dallas Cowboys 2018 NFL Draft: Post-Free Agency 7-round mock
By Tyrone Starr
We have a trade! The Dallas Cowboys trade pick number 50 to the Buffalo Bills for pick numbers 56 and 65.
With the 56th pick in the second round, the Dallas Cowboys select …
Rasheem Green, DE, USC
As it was the Dallas Cowboys turn to choose at 50, receivers Christian Kirk and D.J. Chark were still on the board. Buffalo, with a need at that position and a wealth of picks, chose Kirk. Dallas was able to move down six spots and pick up another selection nine spots later.
At 56th overall, I chose to go after another defensive lineman because you can never have enough heat on the offense. Green provides the Cowboys with yet another dynamic pass rusher.
Think of the how the Giants won two Super Bowls in five years. Those teams were relentless along the line. With Lawrence, Landry, Charlton and Green, the Cowboys have four guys that get after the opposing quarterback. This would allow Crawford to move back inside to go along with David Irving and Maliek Collins.
Green is a more talented version of Irving so if the Cowboys want to move on from him next year, they can with no drop off. He led the Trojans in back-to-back years in both sacks and tackles for loss.
He does need to get stronger and play with better technique but he has a massive upside that will all but guarantee him to be an impact player for a long time.
