Wide Receiver and Tight End

This particular article is not going to be the centerpiece for the chicken v. egg argument on Prescott’s regression.  Whether you want to blame him or his receiving weapons, there is no denying both receiver and tight end need an upgrade.

I stand very firmly in the camp that Dez Bryant is still a number one wide receiver in this league.  I absolutely believe that he and Dak can get better if they both work on it together.  Even so, this team cannot take the next step with Terrance Williams and Cole Beasley vying for the number two role.

Beasley is a very good slot receiver and Williams has his moments but a threat to take some heat off of Bryant would make a massive difference.

As for the tight end position, Jason Witten still does a lot of good things for this team, but he’s slowing down.  Is Rico Gathers the answer?  While a lot of you in Cowboys Nation have spilled your entire allotment of anointing oil on him, no one knows.  Maybe Blake Jarwin can be a player, but I’d rather skip the hoping and just address the issue.

According to cbssports.com, there are ten receivers and tight end prospects in the top 50.  With two picks in that range, it may be prudent for Dallas to use one on a receiving threat.
