5 reasons the Dallas Cowboys should hire Jon Gruden

Is there really a question between these two?

To start with, Gruden has already helped the Buccaneers win a championship. This became possible when Bucs management moved heaven and earth to get Gruden from the Raiders following the 2001 season. Ironic is the fact that Gruden’s Buccaneers would face Gruden’s Raiders in Super Bowl XXXVII, which ended up a blowout loss for Oakland.

In another bit of irony, jon Gruden was fired by the Bucs after a late season collapse in 2008 that came just after he signed an extension following the 2007 regular season.

That was a quick change of heart, no?

Now, which team bring more prestige, the Dallas Cowboys or the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?

Enough said.

One team is America’s Team and is currently listed by Forbes as the most valuable sports organization in the world.

The other team has never amounted to anything without Jon Gruden and used to wear those awful orange creamsicle uniforms in the 70s, 80s and part of the 90s before they actually got it. The Bucs even wear these things as a hideous reminder of how bad things really were during the occasional ‘throwback’ – or ‘throw-up’ – festivities that dot the NFL regular season schedule.

All joking aside, don’t convince yourself that Jones won’t ever want a proven head coach to run the Cowboys. While the Jimmy Johnson story is well-documented for all Cowboys fans beyond the age of 35, let’s also remember that Jones brought in Bill Parcells to bring validity back to the NFL’s most popular franchise in 2003 – and to get AT&T Stadium built, of course.

Jones feels unusually comfortable with Garrett. He’s close to the Garrett family and loyalty is obviously a solid trait exhibited by the oil tycoon. But for how long will Jones stand by the ‘process’ of back and forth contention and then bottoming out – how long will the fans keep riding this train?

Jon Gruden is a star head coach who’s done it before – and the Cowboys are built for him to do it again. You think he wants to coach Dak Prescott – or Jameis Winston.

Think about that.
