PERFECT STORM SEEMS UNLIKELY

The first hurdle can be leaped by Dallas ending Seattle’s season on Sunday.

The next feat involves Detroit losing one of two games against lesser competition.

Cincinnati played without a pulse in losing their last two by 26 and 27. A Lions win at the Bengals shouldn’t surprise anyone.

Detroit closes with hosting the eliminated Packers minus star QB Aaron Rodgers.

It doesn’t look good on paper, but stranger things have happened. It’s worth noting Detroit won the first meeting but haven’t swept Green Bay since 1991.

If by some stroke of luck the Lions lose one, a third requirement must also occur.

The final break needed is for Atlanta, Carolina, or New Orleans to lose twice. The Falcons and Saints square off this weekend so one will take a hit.

The best option is for the Falcons to lose this weekend to the Saints and again to the Panthers. The other two still play the 4-win Buccaneers before it’s over.

The odds certainly seem to favor that Dallas’ calls for help will go unanswered.
