Enter 2017. This draft class features some serious talent at positions that the Cowboys have desperately needed to improve on for several seasons.

It’s no secret that Dallas has been searching for a “war daddy” pass rusher since they parted ways with DeMarcus Ware. The Cowboys brass certainly hope that they have that in first round pick Taco Charlton.

The Cowboys went into the draft with a clear cut need for defensive backs- from both a numbers and talent standpoint. Dallas let three starters from the secondary and another solid contributor walk in free agency. Every fan of the blue and silver was on their knees begging for corners and safeties.

Ask and ye shall receive. Dallas selected three cornerbacks in Chidobe Awuzie, Jourdan Lewis, and Marquez White. They also selected a safety with major upside in Xavier Woods.

But there is a rookie that likely comes to mind, if you happen to follow the Dallas Cowboys remotely close and I have a sneaky suspicion that you do, that is going to have extremely high expectations as a rookie after all of the buzz that he has generated in OTAs and mini camp practices.

He goes by the name of Ryan Switzer and he stands all of five foot eight and weighs 185 pounds with his gear on, maybe.

Switzer has benefited from veteran wide receivers Cole Beasley and Lucky Whitehead having to sit out of the practices due to physical ailments. He has gotten a lot of first team reps that he otherwise would not have seen.

The rookie wide out has made profound use of those reps and has really shown a great ability to find separation and snatch the football cleanly.

If you asked most Cowboys fans who they expected to make the most immediate impact on the team, I’m sure a good amount would mention Switzer.

It makes sense. Switzer is an explosive playmaker that knows how to get open and he is going to see a lot of one on one coverage due to being the fifth or sixth option on the offense for defenses to worry about.

That’s not who my answer is to the question about which rookie will make the biggest impact in 2017. It is…
