Tight ends: 3/4

Projected starter: Jason Witten

Projected backups: Rico Gathers and Geoff Swaim

Battling for potential fourth spot: James Hanna and Blake Jarwin

Witten is a future Hall of Famer. His work ethic is second to none and he is a great leader and his knowledge and experience is great for teaching the young nucleus of Cowboys players how to conduct themselves as professionals.

Rico Gathers has a freakish frame that could be considered Gronk-like. It remains to be seen if he can produce in live action but I expect him to make some impressive plays this season. I am already more excited about Gathers than I ever was about Gavin Escobar.

Geoff Swaim had strong chemistry with Dak last season and was a great run blocker and made several impact blocks to spring huge runs. Swaim’s health is the only question mark but he is definitely going to be part of the Cowboys long term tight end plans.

Hanna is coming off a season filled with a lot of time being injured and no time playing football. Hanna is only valuable as a blocker and presents little to no upside as a receiver. He will have to be healthy and show some miracle development if he wants to stick around this year.

Jarwin is an undrafted rookie out of Oklahoma State. In any other tight end class, Jarwin is probably an early third day selection. The depth at the position allowed him to go undrafted but he has some ability and he could make a case for the Cowboys going thinner at another position and rolling with four tight ends.

Finally, let’s cover the offensive line…
