#5. Jameill Showers, Safety

Showers has been on this roster for quite a while and the former quarterback was originally a backup to Tony Romo. That position flex has helped him stick to the organization especially now that he is attempting to try out generating production at the safety position. It will be interesting to see how he fares as a safety as this will likely determine his role with the organization.

#6. Cedric Thornton, Defensive Tackle

Thornton failed to make an impact last year after the team once again struggled to have a consistent pass rush. Thornton is penciled in as one of the starters this season but could be replaced if some other players impress during camp. A younger pass rusher could take Thornton’s snaps and if that happens the team could look to move on from him either via trade or release.

#7. Orlando Scandrick, Cornerback

Scandrick is the wild card of this list. I personally believe he will retire a Cowboy, even though that is difficult to do, he has been the most consistent cornerback for the team over the course of his entire career.

He could draw significant trade interest and if the team sees a lot of production from their rookies, they could move on from their star cornerback.

Depending on the needs facing the team earlier on in the season, trading Scandrick could make some sense than limiting his snaps. Scandrick should have enough support and something to prove this season as he looks to make an impact now that he is 100% healthy.
