2. Taco or “Chido”

After the first pick, I must confess that I wasn’t blown out of the water. In fact, some nervous nail crunching commenced. But, I know that you can’t judge a painting without seeing the finished picture.

Enter Mr. Chidobe Awuzie.

In my opinion, Awuzie saved the Dallas Cowboys in the 2017 NFL Draft. He will, I believe, become the mold, glue, and star attraction of this year’s rookie crop.

Did someone say the Dallas Cowboys had a second-round curse or something?

3. No King for you!

Now, time will tell whether or not the Cowboys will regret taking Taco over T.J. Watt, or even another first-round talent in Kevin King.

I thought the Cowboys were brilliant by being patient, allowing Awuzie to fall to them in the second round and finding some serious value by picking up Jourdan Lewis in the third round.

Lewis has to deal with the law this summer, but if things pan out, Dallas will have replenished their cabinet with four rookie defensive backs.

4. No football for old men

Well, to put it mildly, the secondary went young.

The oldest defensive backs on the roster are Orlando Scandrick and Nolan Carroll, who are both 30.

Bryon Jones, who is 24, welcomes in three 21-year-olds (Awuzie, Woods, Lewis) and one 22-year-old (White).

Anthony Brown, 23, and Kavon Frazier, 22, also welcome the new defensive backs. Brown and Frazier were part of last year’s draft.
