Dallas Cowboys Draft Breakdown: The First Three Rounds
By Carl Daley
Third Round, #92
Jourdan Lewis, CB, Michigan
Lewis will likely get hit hard by Cowboy detractors as he heads to trial for a misdemeanor domestic violence charge stemming from an incident that has several conflicting reports. The police also did not arrest Lewis at any point and he has given them his full cooperation.
Lewis indicated that he did attempt to move his girlfriend at the time after an argument ensued about a light being on. Lewis reportedly got dressed and attempted to leave the house, that is when his then girlfriend grabbed onto him and would not allow him to leave (allegedly).
Obviously this is still an ongoing situation but to bash a kid who has no prior character concerns over an incident like this is a bit much. Lewis has accomplished more in his college career than most defensive backs do their entire lives, he deserves to be treated as an innocent person until proven guilty.
The court of public opinion is often wrong and filled with misguided opinions. With that addressed, on the field Lewis is a perfect compliment to Awuzie. He could also be the best slot corner in the draft and is the best cornerback in the history of Michigan football.

If Lewis is outright cleared of his charges or if the charges are dropped he will not face any penalties from the league. This will give the Cowboys somewhat of a surplus at the cornerback position. Lewis should fight for a starting role right away as the team enters camp.
