Dallas Cowboys 2017 NFL Draft: Entire First Round Mock
By Carl Daley
6. New York Jets: DeShaun Watson (Quarterback)
My pick here is DeShaun Watson as he is the best quarterback in the draft. The Jets need a signal caller if they hope to win games, Watson is the most NFL ready and will the Jets the best chance to compete this season.
7. Los Angeles Chargers: Malik Hooker (Safety)
After selecting a pass rusher last year the Chargers will still be looking for a replacement for the veteran Eric Weddle who left a season ago. The team could find a franchise safety in Hooker as the team continues to build a very deadly secondary. Adding Hooker could take the Los Angeles Chargers to the next level, competitively.
8. Carolina Panthers: Jonathan Allen (Defensive Lineman)
This pick makes to much sense as the Panthers need to add a playmaker to their defensive line. I had Dalvin Cook here but Allen is just to good of a pass rusher for the Panthers to pass up. Plus there will be quality backs later on in the draft so adding Allen is a no-brainer.
He could go to the Jets a few spots above and in that scenario Cook would be the selection but Allen should fall to add some punch to the Carolina defense.
9. Cincinnati Bengals: Derek Barnett (Defensive End)
Barnett will be the best edge rusher on the board and the Bengals will bite on the chance to add him to their roster. Barnett will instantly upgrade the Bengals pass rush and improve their ability to get after the quarterback.
10. Buffalo Bills: Marlon Humphrey (Cornerback)
The Buffalo Bills have a huge need at cornerback since Stephon Gilmore left the team in free agency. Humphrey will be the best cornerback on the board and should have similar production to Gilmore. He could make a bigger impact than Gilmore did during the early part of his contract.
