What to Love: Quarterback

The team made a move that should resonate with most fans not only due to the player and position but also because of where they were able to draft him. Most of you know by know the Cowboys selected Mississippi State team captain and quarterback Dak Prescott with their last pick in the 4th round.

Most analysts had him being selected in the 3rd round while I myself said I wouldn’t be surprised to see a team role the dice in the second. We were mostly all wrong as Prescott lasted until Dallas made its compensatory pick in the 4th round at 135, just a few selections before the start of the 5th round.

Cowboys Nation longed for the franchise to draft a young and capable backup to current starter Tony Romo and they got one in Dak. What he lacks in an NFL-ready game he makes up for with team leading intangibles.

If the Dallas Cowboys are willing to put in serious time and effort to develop Prescott behind Romo they may be pleasantly surprised when the finished product steps on the field in a few years. I think he has a chance to be special.
