Cowboys, Senior Bowl 2016: Three Prospects to Watch
Jordan Payton – Wide Receiver
After a year of offensive impotence it won’t be a shock to see the Cowboys add a receiver to the roster via the draft in 2016. Dez Bryant is clearly the number one in Dallas, but there were spells last year where in his absence his fellow receiving corp failed to step up.
Jordan Payton out of UCLA had a dozen touchdowns in his final two years at College and he was a consistent contributor with a career average of 13.4 yards per reception. In 2015 he ranked 3rd in the PAC 12 for receiving yards with 1105.
At 6-0 and 212lbs Payton has the ideal athletic physique who is strong enough to block when required but is also shifty when it comes to breaking from defensive backs.
"“There’s no doubt that I’m definitely underrated on what I do. I get that. It’s pretty obvious. I think that I’m definitely going to go out there and impress a lot of people. I’m probably a lot faster than you think, a lot quicker than you think, a lot stronger than you think. I can’t wait to show it, honestly.” – Jordan Payton"
Payton is a kid who has flown under the radar all through his college career. With a 5th/6th round draft grade on CBS he won’t have the huge expectation of those receivers taken on the opening day. The Senior Bowl could be a great platform to boost his grade and subsequent expectations.
