Cowboys Injuries Devastating Defense In Dallas

Defensive tackle Nick Hayden has racked up the most tackles among the defensive line players so far this season, and while he’s not always been a fan favourite he has performed consistently each week- it’s easy to see why he;s a favorite of Rod Marinelli.
Hayden limped off temporarily against the Eagles, and is currently being limited due to injuries to both ankles. Questions were raised over the Cowboys depth at defensive tackle prior to the draft. Should Hayden be forced to miss any time, we’ll see if those concerns were valid.
I’m sure Barry Church would confess that this hasn’t been one of his finest seasons on a football field. Both Church and J.J. Wilcox have been shown up at the safety position by Byron Jones– drafted as a cornerback!
Church has been carrying an ankle strain for a number of weeks, although he has played through the pain barrier. You rarely seem to get anything other than 100% from Church, and while you can’t fault his effort his finishing has left plenty for desire this season. Can we blame the injury?
With the aforementioned players all failing to take part in any practice on Wednesday at all, cornerback Brandon Carr and safety Jeff Heath fared a little better with limited participation. Both the defensive backs are dealing with shoulder injuries.
Next: Why no one should give up on the Dallas Cowboys yet
There was some positive news on the banged up defense however, as my fellow Brit Jack Crawford managed to participate fully after carrying a hand injury, and DeMarcus Lawrence shrugged off concerns over a back injury. The Cowboys require a miracle cure for these constant injuries, maybe then they can perform their own miracle and rescue this disparaging season.
