There’s not much to be said about the Cowboys first round draft pick that hasn’t already been written. Whilst AT&T Stadium chanted for Johnny Manziel back in May, the scouting staff and coaches kept Jerry Jones on planet earth and opted for the Notre Dame offensive lineman. And thank goodness they did.

Whilst the newly dubbed modern day triplets of DeMarco Murray, Tony Romo and Dez Bryant take the plaudits it’s Martin that deserves the crown. He’s undoubtedly been one of the Cowboys best players this year. Dan Turner who writes for DallasCowboys.com suggests maybe he’s the best on the team.

Pro Football Focus currently have Martin ranked as the 4th best overall guard this season, and he’s the only player to have a positive score in pass blocking, run blocking and screen blocking. Alongside fellow former first round picks Tyron Smith and Travis Frederick; Martin is part of a line being compared to the Great Wall of Dallas. The expectation is this is just the beginning for this group of players and with more time playing together they’ll get even better. Tony Romo and DeMarco Murray will be rubbing their hands in delight.
