1. Dak Prescott is back

After having thumb surgery following a Week 1 loss to Tampa Bay, Dak Prescott is finally medically cleared to practice and all signs point to him starting this weekend.

There was an outside chance he would play in Week 6 but he never got cleared to go full speed. He was still making great progress, showing off his passing before the game against the Eagles.

Dallas wound up losing that game as Cooper Rush was just 18-of-38 for 181 yards with a touchdown and three picks. It was the first time this year that they truly missed Prescott as the defense kept everyone from scoring in the previous four games, meaning Rush only had to be a game manager.

While he did everything asked of him, Rush wasn’t able to put the team on his back the way Prescott has been able to during his career. It’s a shame that the rough outing might be the last start for Rush this season but he still hands the ball back to No. 4 with a record of 4-2, which is impressive.

Thanks to his ability to keep the team above .500, Prescott is taking over a team in the midst of a tough NFC East race. He also couldn’t ask for a better first opponent since the Lions’ defense won’t be able to pressure him much, and he can lean on the run game rather than having to step in and throw it constantly.

Prescott should be able to knock the rust off against Detroit, then has another winnable game against Chicago before heading to the bye week. This is the best stretch of the season for him to return and his presence is the main reason to believe they’re going to win in Week 7.
