Let’s start with a disclaimer — there’s no reason to worry about this one just yet. Even saying that Trevon Diggs hasn’t had the best start to camp this season.

A breakout star for Dallas in 2021, Diggs had 11 interceptions which helped the defense take a huge step forward. Now heading into his third year in the pros, there’s more pressure than ever on Diggs to not only continue to force turnovers but also improve when it comes to his struggles in coverage.

Diggs led the NFL in interceptions last year but he also surrendered more than 1,000 yards receiving according to Diante Lee of PFF. When you have a corner that gambles the way Diggs does, there’s always a chance they will get burnt at times, but this happened far too often for the second-year corner in 2021.

So far in camp, this appears to still be a problem. And it’s not just star players such as CeeDee Lamb getting behind him, as Simi Fehoko also had a drill that ended with him running past the cornerback for a long touchdown.

After this play, Diggs and defensive back coach Al Harris exchanged some words — with Harris clearly not thrilled with the performance.

In live-action, there should be some safety help which might have prevented a score on this play but it’s still a little worrisome to see Diggs struggling in one-on-one coverage early.
