4. Linebacker

After the Cowboys drafted Micah Parsons and Jabril Cox last season, it was apparent that this team was looking for more athletic linebackers than they currently had with Leighton Vander Esch and Jaylon Smith.

Both moves paid off as Parsons took the league by storm and Cox (before his injury) had started to take snaps away from Vander Esch after Smith was released. Unfortunately, Cox’s season ended early due to an ACL tear, so we will have to see what he can do when he returns.

Now that we know they are wanting more speed and depth at the position, America’s Team will be looking for a backup plan in case Cox doesn’t come back the same. Plus, if they want Parsons to be able to take snaps at edge rusher more often, they will need another talented linebacker to take his place. Vander Esch was oddly re-signed by the Cowboys after they neglected to take his fifth-year option ahead of 2021, but his best days seem to be behind him.
