The officially eliminated

32. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-12) – Previous rankings, 29th, 30th
31. New York Jets (3-11) – Previous rankings, 31st, 31st
30. Detroit Lions (2-11-1) – Previous rankings, 32nd, 32nd
29. Houston Texans (3-11) – Previous rankings, 28th, 27th
28. Chicago Bears (4-10) – Previous rankings, 18th, 29th

Mathematically, functionally, these five teams have no opportunity to play football beyond Week 18. The only drama left is between four teams for the right to draft first overall next season.

On life support

27. New York Giants (4-10) – Previous rankings, 26th, 28th
26. Carolina Panthers (5-9) – Previous rankings, 20th, 21st
25. Seattle Seahawks (5-9) – Previous rankings, 23rd, 26th

You have a better chance of actually seeing Santa Claus himself come down your chimney than you do seeing either of these three teams make the playoffs. I am sure there are scenarios out there where each team could sneak in, but figuring them out might break my brain.
