6. Dan Quinn’s Impact

It is a surprise to no one that the Cowboys moved on from Mike Nolan after last season’s disaster on defense. Dan Quinn steps in as the new defensive coordinator and must improve the defense immediately.

Quinn will bring a mixture of 4-3/3-4 defense to the table and hopefully he will help linebackers Leighton Vander Esch and Jaylon Smith return to their 2018 form. Quinn has to be able to get through to these players and give them simple assignments on defense.

Quinn will also be tasked with putting first-round draft pick Micah Parsons in positions to succeed. Parsons has a rare ability to play off-ball linebacker while also being able to rush the passer.

If Quinn can have his unit playing at a league-average level, the Cowboys should have plenty of success this season and be one of the top contenders in the NFC.

7. Training Camp Darling

There is always that bubble roster player that becomes the “darling” of Hard Knocks. Seeing who that player will be on the Cowboys this year will be interesting.

Some possible options could be rookie defensive tackle Quinton Bohanna, first-year wide receiver Semi Fehoko or cornerback Reggie Robinson. But whoever the player may be, it will be a unique opportunity for fans to get an in-depth look at some lesser-known players.
