Round 4, pick 115, Tay Gowan, CB- UCF

Hopefully, by this point in the mock draft, you have picked up on a theme. The Dallas Cowboys defense was bad last season and they need to use as much draft capital as possible to address their needs on defense. That theme continues with the teams’ selection here of cornerback Tay Gowan.

Gowan had something of a breakout season back in 2019 for UCF when he posted an impressive eight pass deflections and two interceptions in his 12 games played. Following that year, many fans and analysts were excited to see what the young defender would do in his senior year.

The young defensive back chose to opt out of the 2020 season due to concerns about his daughter’s health and saw his draft stock stall as a result. However, in his limited playing time, Gowan showcased all the tools necessary to become a solid NFL defensive back.

The six-foot-two, 185-pound prospect is a little slim for a player his height but has a nice blend of height and athleticism that could serve him nicely in the NFL.

The Dallas Cowboys take another shot to address their dire need at the cornerback position with this selection. The move would also keep Gowan and his college teammate safety Richie Grant together in Dallas for the start of their NFL careers.
