4. Aldon Smith, Defensive End

The Dallas Cowboys have made some questionable signings over the past couple of seasons. However, the teams’ decision to bring in defensive end Aldon Smith has already paid off more than most fans of America’s Teams could have ever dreamed.

The 31-year old pass rusher currently leads the team with five sacks on the season. The six-foot-five, 255-pound defender has wreaked havoc on opposing offenses this year.

Smiths’ stellar start to the season has highlighted his tremendous potential and demonstrated that he can still be a star in this league. In his first two seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, he accrued an astounding 33.5 sacks.

After missing four seasons due to off-the-field issues Smith has shown that he can still have a bright future if he can manage to stay on the field. The Dallas Cowboys will have to decide whether to bring back the dominant edge-rusher, but if he keeps performing at this level it would be hard to imagine Jerry Jones letting him walk.

Aldon Smith has always been an incredibly talented player. However, in what amounts to essentially a tryout year in Dallas the former All-Pro defender has earned a spot on this list.
