Is this the year the Dallas Cowboys win the Super Bowl?
The Road to Lombardi
The NFC has a lot of very talented teams. The good thing for the Cowboys is some don’t show up in the playoffs. The bad thing is that you can put Dallas in that category. Which NFC teams would give Dallas hard time in the playoffs?
Let’s start with a team the Cowboys will play in the regular season in the Seahawks. While Wilson is a very good quarterback that rises to the occasion, the oft-injured Chris Carson is an issue. Their lack of players in the trenches and possibly missing Carson will be what costs them the win.
Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo threw only two touchdowns, yet three interceptions in the three playoff games he played in. The rushing attack, however, was able to score seven times. If the Cowboys can force Jimmy to throw, and put up at least 20 points, they can win the game.
The Green Bay Packers return this season with a good roster, despite losing their leading tackler the past three seasons in Blake Martinez. They could have improved their roster more in the draft but opted to look to the future. To beat the cheeseheads, Dallas must exploit their linebackers.
As always, the New Orleans Saints have a strong roster offensively and improved defensively. They added a former Eagle in safety Malcolm Jenkins in free agency, who knows the Cowboys very well. The Saints have the best shot at beating the Cowboys.
If they can somehow limit wide receiver Michael Thomas and running back Alvin Kamara, they should win. I highly doubt the Saints can hold Dallas to 10 points again as they did in 2019.
For Dallas to make it out of the NFC, they need to avoid the Saints. While they are a team that hasn’t shown up in the playoffs, they have what it takes to at least make it to the Super Bowl.
In the AFC, there are only three teams that I can see making the Super Bowl. Those teams are the Kansas City Chiefs, the Baltimore Ravens, and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Chiefs just won the Super Bowl, and have shown time and time again how good their offense is. Their defense is great too, but their offense is on another planet, making you forget about how good their defense is. How do you beat them? You need to score every chance possible.
The Ravens are another team that is very good on both sides of the ball. Hopefully, they get great intel in their Week 13 matchup. The best bet is to force Lamar to throw the ball and try to expose their safties. Look for Michael Gallup to step up this game with his deep routes.
Pittsburgh has a great team, but their flaw is on offense. They haven’t been able to replicate their success since the departure of superstars Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown. While it was injuries that ruined their 2019 season, there are too many questions about the offense in the playoffs.
So, can the Dallas Cowboys win the Super Bowl for the first time since 1996? They most definitely have a shot. If they can avoid or sneak by the Saints, then they can at least make the Super Bowl.
As far as winning it all? Both the Ravens and the Chiefs are a very tough matchup. I can see Dallas winning against the Ravens, but not against the Chiefs.
Both have a great coaching staff, both have a very good defense, and both have a very good offense. The difference is that while the Chiefs can dominate on the ground and in the air, the Ravens are more of a ground team.

That’s not to discredit Jackson, because what he did worked all season. You can see what happens when you can’t establish a passing game when they were eliminated in the divisional round last season. The Ravens couldn’t finish, with Jackson throwing two interceptions.
When Jackson has the option to run or throw the ball, he plays very well. When he is limited to throwing the ball, his play drops. While he did have 300+ passing yards, the inability to convert on third and fourth downs cost them.
Simply put, if the Cowboys sneak past the Saints and somehow play anyone other than the Chiefs in the Super Bowl, then their drought should end. Do you think the Dallas Cowboys have what it takes to hoist the Lombardi Trophy? Let me know in the comments section below.
