How will Michael Bennett fit in with the Dallas Cowboys?
Fitting at Defensive Tackle
As of right now, Dallas has defensive tackles Antwaun Woods and Maliek Collins starting. Neither of those names is really known outside of Dallas.
Collins’ best season so far was his rookie season which was back in 2016. He got a respectable 5.0 sacks, one forced fumble, 23 combined tackles, along with 13 quarterback hits. If he remains healthy and continues his current pace, he would end up with a similar stat line by the end of this season.
Woods was bouncing between being on the practice squad and being a reserve with the Tennessee Titans from 2016 to 2018. Dallas signed him when the Titans had him cut from the team in May of 2018.
Since signing him, Woods has been good. Nothing more and nothing less. He is more of a run stopper than a pass rusher, making 34 combined tackles last season.
Michael Bennett would be an upgrade to either Collins or Woods. My guess would be they would have Bennett as one tackle, then Collins when they expect a pass or the opposition is far from a first down, and Woods when they expect a run or a third and short situation.
