Dallas Cowboys: 3 potential safety trades before the deadline
Marcus Maye, S – New York Jets
Although the Cowboys would likely be more interested in safety Jamal Adams over Marcus Maye, the fact Dallas inquired about defensive end Leonard Williams prior to his trade to the Giants can’t be ignored.
Our good friends over at The Jet Press pointed out the possibility of Dallas trading for Maye in a recent article as the franchise has reportedly been fielding calls for the third-year safety. He’s a former second-round selection in 2017 that’s started in every game he’s played for the Jets.
Maye’s rookie season he posted 79 tackles, two pass defends, two interceptions, and a forced fumble as a 16-game starter. Last season, he was plagued by various injuries (foot, thumb, shoulder) which limited him to just six games.
Concerns about a nerve injury following offseason shoulder surgery forced Maye to miss a portion of training camp. Yet, he’s started all seven games for the Jets this season, recording 28 total tackles and three pass defends. Maye had a season-high six solo tackles and a pass defend against the Cowboys in Week Six.
