Kellen Moore – Cowboys Offensive Coordinator

Why hired a young offensive genius like Lincoln Riley when you already have one in-house? Kellen Moore looked like the Cowboys’ version of Sean McVay through his first three games as a first-time offensive coordinator this season. Unfortunately, in the past three contests, he’s looked more like Scott Linehan Jr.

Of course, Linehan was the team’s longtime offensive coordinator before he and the Cowboys parted ways this offseason. But Moore has basically been his understudy for the past few years. Linehan even signed the former Boise State quarterback as an undrafted free agent back in 2012 while he was the offensive coordinator with the Detroit Lions.

Moore even followed Linehan to Dallas in 2015 and eventually became the team’s quarterback coach last year. Is it any wonder why we are starting to see some familiar tendencies from the young coordinator?

Would Kellen Moore make a good head coach? The past three games are evidence to the contrary as Moore certainly lacks the experience of a more seasoned play-caller. Still, there seemed to be a unified belief that Kellen is the real deal. If the Cowboys were 6-0 instead of 3-3 right now, Moore would likely be projected as a hot head coaching candidate this offseason.

Never say never when it comes to Jerry Jones.
