Through the first two games, statistically, the Dolphins have the worst offense in the league. If you combine that with their putrid defense, you begin to see the picture of why the Cowboys are favored by 22 points.

The Dolphins played a horrible game last week against the Patriots and there is no reason to believe it will get better. It’s hard to analyze their strengths because they haven’t shown any to date. They have no discernible offensive philosophy and should struggle against the speed of the Cowboys.

The Cowboys will be without safety Xavier Woods and maybe defensive lineman Tyrone Crawford due to injuries as detailed by this CBSSports.com piece. This will likely put safety Darian Thompson in line for his first start.

Sunday will be the season debut of prized free agent pick up defensive end, Robert Quinn who is returning from a two game league suspension. Quinn will be a sigh for sore eyes to All-Pro defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence. With Quinn, Lawrence, and defensive tackle Maliek Collins, the Cowboys have a formidable pass rush.

As much as I try, I don’t see a lot of resistance from a Dolphins offense that has scored a total of ten points in two games.

Prediction: Dolphins score no more than 6 points on the Dallas defense

I see this mainly as an uneventful game in the special teams area with one possible exception. Last week Devin Smith benefited from the absence of Tavon Austin in the offense, and this week I believe Cedrick Wilson may make his presence known.

Next. The all-time best defenders to wear the Star. dark

In just one game, Smith may have supplanted Austin in the passing game, and Wilson could potentially do the same thing as a returner. Austin’s lack of availability over the past two years could finally cost him his roster spot.

I’m going out on a limb and giving Wilson a punt return for touchdown just before the half.

Final Score Prediction: Dallas Cowboys 45 – Miami Dolphins 3
