Dallas Cowboys: Three biggest training camp questions
By Tyrone Starr
What will the vibe of training camp be for the coaching staff?
It’s not a secret. The overwhelming majority of the football world sees the Jason Garrett era in Dallas as a failure.
While there have been some good years and a few things Garrett deserves great credit for, unfortunately, this is a results business. There is an underlying expectation that if he does not produce multiple playoff wins in 2018, he’ll need to update his resume in 2019.
How he and the coaching staff do their jobs under this cloud of uncertainty will be an interesting aspect of camp.
I do not expect Garrett to deviate much from how he does things. I do expect the coordinators, however, to take more calculated risks.
On offense, I believe Scott Linehan will be much more creative than what you are used to seeing. The addition of Austin and the need to prove his system will be better with Bryant will facilitate that change.
Four other new additions to the coaching staff on this side of the ball should also help freshen thing up.
Defensively, new defensive backs coach Kris Richard will drastically change the culture of how the Dallas secondary will play. Dallas will also have a new linebackers coach in Ben Bloom. These changes should make the Cowboys much more aggressive defensively.
